Folkways

Loitering is a sign that one doesn’t have something to do, and not having something to do is heavily frowned upon.

Most Lyonese have something they habitually fiddle with in their offhand. It is unusual not to.

Overview

Lyonians are industrious, hard working, dedicated, and enthusiastic about what they do. A Sibolan Bard once described them as the accountants who make those useful magical items, and that seems a fair assessment of their often overly earnest and practical natures.

Lyonians are cheerful, fair, open, and easy to like. They are also usually unconcerned with the broader world, which gives other reams a bit of a problem because they are usually unwilling to engage in the Crusades, as they have better things to do.

This despite the fact that one cannot get to the crusades without going through Lyonian territory and Lyonian troops. They are sometimes said to be the least martial, but they also have some of the hardest, most disciplined soldiers, and they tend to equip the better than nearly everyone but Sibola.

Lyonians are the least likely to be concerned about magic, and often know a great deal about it – only Akadi is more involved, and they don’t have a strong tendency to categorize and study it. Lyonians took what Akadians started and made it even more structured, created ore of a system to it, and that is reflected in how they are as a people: orderly, structured, attentive, detail oriented, exuding a calm, collected demeanor around others. They’re strict with themselves on the outside, but sweet on the inside.
