Overview

There are three things that mark a Durangan: a love of good food, a love of good entertainment, and a healthy respect for criminal enterprise.

This is reflected in the people and place that is Durango proper, even though it has spread to the towns and villages that support it. Durango is the epicenter of the Syndicates, who are said to be as powerful there as Houses and Nobles are elsewhere.

Durangans out typically outspoken, boisterous, and fond of slang terms that seem to change with the winds. They are often concerned with themselves and avoid being overly nosy about other people’s lives. Durangans are also wary folks, slower to trust than most, having seen the results of both the marvelous carriages that need no horse, and the way they have been used to kill people indiscriminately.

Durango is the end point for many of the animals used by the Empire for food, and is seen as the best place to ship your goods for butchering and preserving, since Durango has the largest salt mine. They have masteed the art of creating sausage and that has led to a host of small food places that often can bewilder, as cooking is a time-honored art there. Speaking of arts, Durangans love art and history, performance and theater, and is the place where people go to see some of the greatest performances and greatest plays produced.
