The names of some containers may confuse at times. For example, there are several kinds of Chest, but only one is called simply “chest”. The others are all described by their use. On Wyrlde, a gallon is 5,000 milliliters, or about 20 cups. This is much more than a normal US one. A Crom is also called a galun on Wyrlde, or a gallon.

For rough estimation, 28,500 ml is equal to one cubic foot.

Clothing

On purchase, the style of dress is going to be the common style of that locale, unless a specialty clothier is found and used. Adventurers are known in no small part for their resistance to style, and their fondness for unusual and involved cuts and designs.

Clothing is expensive and can take a long while to make – a week is not uncommon for a typically busy clothier for a pair of trousers. Clothing which is dyed or bleached is pricier and is never used for common work clothing among the peasantry, though is common for those who rise above.

Dyes used in work clothing are fairly rare, and mostly limited to browns, greens, grays, and pale, soft colors. No reds, blues, or purples. Embellishments and decoration add to the time it takes, and something such as a dress can set one back a sizeable chunk. Embellishments include laces, bows, ribbons, embroidering, dyeing, braiding, and more.

Intricate brocade and delicate traceries are currently very popular, to the point that nearly everything has some form of detailed and involved embroidery, sometimes featuring a crest or other heraldic device, surrounded by vine like traceries.

Work clothing is made of simple materials, and never includes silk or taffeta. Linen, cotton, and wool plain weave fabrics (muslin, serjlin, denim, et al) are the norm here. The prices shown are the common and ordinary prices for work clothing.

Event clothing, which can include such things as clothing for Masques or Dances, festivals or simply one’s “best clothing”, is special occasion clothing, decorated and made of better materials, often not as durable as working clothing. This clothing will feature more expensive fabrics, such as silk, taffeta, and fancy materials, while dyes will include pretty much any color wanted, even going so far as to include dyed leather and hide or fur. When purchasing Event Clothing, the price is multiplied by three, the Weight is multiplied by two.

Cold Weather Clothing: Winter and extreme temperature clothing is slightly heavier, often made of doubled layers, but otherwise resembles work clothing, though often lined internally with fur or similar material. When purchasing, the price is multiplied by four, the weight is multiplied by 1.5.

Market Stalls

The vast majority of physical goods on Wyrlde and within the Empire are sold at Markets, in stalls, usually overseen by a peddler or the person who made it. These are often family affairs, the young learning the trade, apprentices in study, and the peddler trying to keep all of it in line, watch for sticky fingers, and bargaining to make a sale or trade This is called Mongery, and is the catch all term for selling one’s wares or goods at a market or even along the roads as one travels.

Physics

Physics, Healers, Midwives, and related folks – including Herbalists and Apothecaries, tend to cluster, but they also offer some unusual items. Best known, of course, are the Healer’s Draughts. These are non-magical Elixirs, of limited value, but still potent enough for most folks. These will restore a low number of hit points, based on the grade of the potion (lesser, common, or greater), and are generally available widely, but are expensive and generally not widely used. However, they also have poultices and wraps. These are always made from blessed items, and it is said that those with the gift of healing are favored by the Powers That Be (for good or ill).

They also have an assortment of other pricey draughts. These draughts are only sold as single use, are pricey, and do not heal damage, but rather end a conditions.:

Antifungal: This will cancel the effects of any fungal or spore-based conditions.

Antitoxin: This will cancel out any poison conditions, including those frequently used by assassins, except for intoxication or food poisoning.

Antivenom: This will cancel out any venom conditions, from natural poison such as a sting or bite, from critters in the Boonies.

Antibiotic: This will cancel out conditions arising from many of the diseases caused by parasites, such as sewer plague, sight rot, food poisoning, and others.

Antiviral: This will end conditions caused by viral elements.

Antidote: This will end many mineral based conditions, such as Geostigma.

Much to the ongoing consternation of the Physics, nothing has been developed that attends to Influenzas, Daezbugh, or Chatterburr.

Bookeries

Bookeries do sell ready spell books. Most notable is a travel Spell book. This is about a third the weight but can only hold 20 spells.

Tentery

Tenteries often sell some form of Hyborian or Kahokian tent. The differences are fairly simple: Hyborian Tents are round with an umbrella like roof. Kahokian Tents are square, with a sloped roof. In both ases, they are very large tents, divided into partitions capable of holding four sleepers each, or serving as a particular room, and the partitions can be modified to be fewer, but never more.

Rationers

A Ration is a thick pastry shell wrapped around a mixed filling of some sort. Some are open along one end, and the most common ones are baked in a hearth or fire. It is a strong tradition among the Empire to use rations when traveling, once made of simple things that were scrounged and carefully rationed during the Bleak Journey and are constantly being changed and improved and exchanged; often sold as street food these days Meals are simply that: packaged meals, usually meat, fruit, and root vegetable in a bundle, perhaps with cheese or bread.

The three most common types of rations are Soft, Crusty, and Raid.

Soft Rations are unleavened and made using a mix of ground corn and flour of rice or buckwheat, possibly with potato. Soft rations are typically eaten in threes. They are steamed most often these days. Soft rations are usually wrapped in rice paper or leaves.

Crusty Rations are made with a dough of wheat and other flours that is leavened and often baked into handheld items with thick, hard crusts that can survive the day’s efforts. Crusty rations are often said to be best in twos, but many can only eat one. Crusty rations are usually wrapped in thick paper.

Raid Rations are made of a mix of more whole grains, held together by a syrup and starches, along with bits of berry or fruit. They are about the size of a hand, and one can suffice for a meal. Raid rations are wrapped in cloth that has been dipped in beeswax.

Kits

A Kit is a set of supplies, consumable, that enable some activities that need to be done using a skill. There are several different kits, but each kit is small, portable, and good for up to seven uses before it is empty and must be replaced.

Kits can also be re-stocked out in the wilds, through foraging and preparation, if the person has the appropriate skills to know, find, and prepare the materials for a given kit.

Trade Goods

On the borderlands, many people conduct transactions through barter. Like gems and art objects, trade goods—bars of iron, bags of salt, livestock, and so on—retain their full value in the market and can be used as currency. But also, a good bundle of something can be extremely useful on the open road or to passing merchants who want to up their fortunes for a little less overhead. Trade goods have different exchange rates on Wyrlde.
